When’s the last time you treated yourself to something nice?

Being a people-pleaser, I constantly find myself thinking about the little things I could do or buy to make my loved ones feel great. It’s definitely something I adore doing, especially after seeing how surprised and grateful they are.

Of course, recently I noticed that although I spend loads of time trying to please others, I rarely do something nice for myself. Sure, I occasionally treat myself to a nice pair of boots or a hot latte, but those things don’t bring much meaning to my life (although I recently did purchase a pair of really nice boots, haha!). The truth is that happiness exists in little things and I honestly believe that everybody is in charge of creating their own. That’s why I started doing more things for myself...and I’ve never felt happier!

If you’re anything like me and struggle to find ways on how to do nice things for yourself, take a peek at these 8 ways to make your day-to-day happier and more fulfilled.

Create a Morning Routine.

People say that the start of your day will determine the rest of it and I couldn’t agree more. If you create a morning routine that speaks to you, you’ll have more energy and motivation to tackle what the rest of the day brings.

Begin your day with a hot cup of coffee or tea, make yourself a nice nutritious breakfast (don’t be lazy!) and take some time to clear your head. Do whatever you need to get in the zone. If you feel like doing some yoga, going for a walk or simply staring at the wall for half an hour - do it.

Make sure to make time for yourself each and every day.

Snuggle Up.

Snuggling up isn’t just for winter months! There’s nothing better than feeling comfortable in your own skin (and in your own home!) so try to make the best of the time you spend in your own little nook. Invest in a cozy robe and a pair of nice warm slippers and snuggle up! A quality blanket can also go a long way and if you’re feeling particularly stressed or anxious, you just might want to consider opting for a weighted blanket instead.

Light Your Way.

Your interior lighting makes up for half of the atmosphere in your home, so make sure not to neglect it. I’m not saying to install a brand new lighting system - just make the most of the things you already have...or you can treat yourself to a little something-something. Go ahead and open those curtains, let the light come in and embrace the sunshine. And when the evening comes, use essential oils or light up some candles especially scented ones in lavender, rose or vanilla. The two combined will without a doubt give the relaxing vibe you need to finish your day properly.

Learn to Relax.

Still stressed? You just might need a spa day. Seeing how all of us are far too busy (and broke) to be spending each day at the spa, I recommend the DIY approach. Equip yourself with some face masks, nice moisturizing lotions, and some bath bombs and enjoy the ride. Pampering yourself doesn’t need to be expensive!

Drink, Drink, Drink.

No, I don’t mean wine (although I could go for a glass or two)! Drinking lots of liquids is one of the most important things you can do for your body. Not only will it make you feel great, but it’ll make you look great as well. Try to keep a reusable water bottle at your side whenever you're on the go and spend your time at home experimenting with different smoothies, natural juices and maybe even some healthy cocktails!

Splurge On.

Allow yourself to splurge, even when it’s not your birthday. Buy yourself something nice and pretty like a good coat, a quality handbag or a pair of boots - you won't regret it.

Of course, this isn’t a sustainable solution for every day, so my go-to option is accessories! Jewelry, scarves, and bandanas can always bring a smile to my face and the best part is that they’re widely available and super cheap.

Embrace the Music.

Take some time for yourself to shut out the outside noise and listen to your favorite tunes. When I’m feeling stressed I simply pop in my earbuds, play some happy-go-lucky songs and forget about the world. Home alone? Don’t be shy to bust some moves!

Exercise.

Find time every day to do some light exercise, be it cardio, HIIT, jogging or even power walking. If that’s not really your jam, try yoga and meditation, it’s going to change your life so much! Getting your body moving will almost always make you feel happier and more energized.

What makes you happy? How do you make each day count?
