What It's Really Like to Live in Brooklyn.
Living in Brooklyn, New York is like living in a magical land of hipsters, rooftops, bookstores and graffiti.
I've lived here on and off for about four years and I fall in love with it more and more every day. There's nothing better than visiting Smorgasborg in Williamsburg for south Philly cheesesteaks and oooey gooey desserts, reading up a storm while kicking up your feet at Prospect Park, and browsing the Brooklyn Flea Market for hidden treasures each weekend.
Here are the top four things I love the most about Brooklyn:
You'll fit in no matter who you are. There are dozens of distinctly different neighborhoods in Brooklyn and each has a different feel and vibe.
- Brooklyn is laid-back and has it's own culture. Living in Brooklyn will have you falling in love with shopping local, guffawing when someone asks you to come into the "city" for weekend brunches, and will pretty much have you waving goodbye to owning a car.
- The beach is only a subway ride away. Whether you're looking for a day of enjoying rides at Coney Island or relaxing on the sand at Rockaway Beach, it's totally possible when you live in Brooklyn.
- The cost of living in Brooklyn is significantly less than when you live in other boroughs. Outside of neighborhoods like DUMBO and Park Slope, you'll get more bang for your buck. The borough can accommodate different budgets from entertainment to rent. Living in Brooklyn means that you may not have to give up half of your closet in order to move or that you may end up actually having a backyard for your dog to play in.
